Planning Mission setup before anyone touches the controller.
Planning

Mission start: what must be clear before touching the controller

  1. Define the mission goal, customer, field and acceptance criteria before the crew leaves.
  2. Confirm boundary, takeoff area, access, hazards and customer contact before GO.
  3. Treat field scope changes as a new operational decision, not a small correction.
Ground area Field boundary, people control and emergency landing options.

Controlled ground area and emergency landing sites

  1. A private field is not automatically controlled; manage uninvolved people and vehicles.
  2. Mark the field, main landing site and several emergency landing options before stress appears.
  3. Roads, neighbors, workers, machines, power lines and animals are part of the ground-risk picture.

Airspace

Airspace: geozones, DroneTower/PANSA and manned aircraft conflict

  1. Check current zones and restrictions for the exact mission time, not from memory.
  2. Manned aircraft have priority; reduce risk immediately even if the job must stop.
  3. Brief who watches the sky, who communicates threats and what abort command is used.

Weather and drift: clear sky does not always mean safe work

  1. For T100 operations, wind at ground level, gusts, visibility and weather trend matter.
  2. For spraying, think where the liquid goes, not only where the drone goes.
  3. If weather approaches limits, land early; an early stop is a successful safety decision.

  1. Keep the briefing short: pilot, observer, people control, landing zones and abort words.
  2. Lost-link behavior must be chosen before takeoff: RTH, hover or land.
  3. Emergency commands should be boring, clear and repeatable.

T100 equipment: pre-flight inspection without magical thinking

  1. Inspect arms, propellers, payload, mounts, wiring, leaks, GNSS/RTK, compass and firmware.
  2. After a payload or configuration change, assume behavior may be different.
  3. Use DJI manuals for manufacturer detail; Dron3 keeps the operational flow visible.
Equipment

Batteries, RTH and forced landing

  1. Battery is a safety margin decision, not just a screen percentage.
  2. Low-battery and RTH limits must match field layout, obstacles and landing-site choice.
  3. When battery is low, the goal is safe landing and a clean record, not finishing a pass.

Agro/T100: spraying, spreading, PPE and treatment records

  1. Payload risk includes product, dose, wind, buffers, water, neighbors, animals and people.
  2. Label/SDS, legal use, PPE and spill plan are mission inputs, not paperwork after the job.
  3. Cleaning, decontamination and product/batch records protect the business as much as hardware.
Emergencies Fast, repeatable responses for the ugly moments.
Emergencies

Emergency: lost C2 without panic

  1. Do not click randomly; confirm the pre-briefed lost-link behavior.
  2. Observers keep eyes on the UAV while the crew clears the likely landing area.
  3. After link recovery, continue only after an explicit GO decision.

Emergency: person, vehicle or animal inside the area

  1. Entry into the work area changes the situation immediately; call STOP AREA and pause.
  2. Do not send people under the drone; remove risk without creating a new one.
  3. Restart only after the area is confirmed clear.

Emergency: conflict with manned aviation

  1. Manned aviation has absolute priority; the remote pilot reduces risk immediately.
  2. Descend, move away or land depending on which option is safest at that moment.
  3. Do not resume until the conflict and risk are gone and the event is recorded.

Emergency: low battery and forced landing

  1. Low battery ends the ambition to finish the treatment; safe landing comes first.
  2. Pick a landing site away from people, obstacles and chemical risk.
  3. After landing, secure the battery, record the reason and check for a wider fault.

  1. First stabilize people, fire, battery and chemical hazards.
  2. Call emergency services when needed and keep people away from damaged batteries or payload.
  3. Preserve logs, photos and witness notes for reporting and corrective actions.

  1. Announce arming, takeoff, mission start, pause, resume and landing.
  2. Keep communication short and action-oriented, especially around people or obstacles.
  3. If commands become unclear, pause the mission before the crew improvises.

  1. A screen does not replace awareness of people, aircraft, weather and obstacles.
  2. Observers need clear sectors, abort commands and a way to contact the pilot instantly.
  3. Margins should be visible before the mission starts, not invented during trouble.

  1. The mission is not over at touchdown: disarm, inspect, secure payload and record data.
